Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about TeePass.
General
What is TeePass?
TeePass is a peer-to-peer marketplace where golfers can list tee times they can't make — and other golfers can claim them. You can list the full group or just individual spots.
Is TeePass affiliated with any golf courses?
No. TeePass is an independent marketplace. We facilitate peer-to-peer transfers of tee times between golfers. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any golf course.
Do I need an account to browse?
No — you can browse all available listings without creating an account. You only need an account when you want to list or purchase a tee time.
For Sellers
How do I list a tee time?
Click "List a Tee Time" from anywhere on the site. Enter your course info, date, time, how many spots you're selling, what you paid, and your asking price. Your confirmation number is entered last and is kept completely private until a buyer pays.
Can I list just one spot in my foursome?
Yes. You can list 1, 2, 3, or all 4 spots independently. If you're listing partial spots, the listing will note to buyers that they'll be joining an existing group.
How much can I charge?
You can charge up to face value + 25%. For example, if you paid $80 per spot, you can charge up to $100. You can also list for free. This cap is enforced automatically.
What if I need to cancel after a buyer pays?
Cancelling 24+ hours before the tee time: buyer gets a full refund, you receive a warning. Cancelling under 24 hours: full refund to buyer + you lose 5% of the listing price from your payout as a penalty. First offense is a warning only. Repeated cancellations lead to account suspension.
When do I get paid?
Your payout (88% of the listing price) is transferred to your connected bank account 2 hours after your tee time start time. You need to set up a Stripe payout account first.
For Buyers
How does the confirmation number work?
The seller's confirmation number is revealed to you in your transaction page immediately after your payment is captured. Use this number when you arrive at the course. If the course requires a name on the reservation, coordinate with the seller through the message thread — they may need to call the course to update the name.
What is the service fee?
We charge a 10% service fee on top of the listing price. This is shown clearly before you pay. 2% of every transaction goes into a reserve fund used to cover verified disputes.
What if I'm joining an existing group?
If a listing has spots available in a larger group, you'll be playing alongside those golfers. This is completely normal at public courses — most golfers are paired with strangers regularly. Just introduce yourself on the first tee!
What if I can't make it after purchasing?
Buyer no-shows don't receive a refund — the seller has already arranged to transfer the time. If you can't make it, you're encouraged to re-list the time on TeePass yourself.
Weather & Disputes
What happens if the course is closed due to weather?
If the course officially closes or significantly delays play due to weather, the buyer receives a 100% refund and the seller is not penalized. Submit a screenshot of the course's official closure notice through the dispute window within 2 hours of your tee time.
How do I open a dispute?
On your transaction detail page, click "Open Dispute." The dispute window opens 30 minutes before your tee time and closes 2 hours after. Outside this window, transactions automatically complete.
How are disputes resolved?
Our team reviews all disputes within 24 hours. For verified fraudulent listings, the buyer is refunded from our reserve fund. For seller no-shows, the seller is penalized and their account may be suspended. We take every dispute seriously.
Payments & Security
Is my payment secure?
Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, a leading payment processor. TeePass never stores your credit card information. Funds are held in escrow until 2 hours after the tee time.
What is escrow?
Escrow means buyer funds are held securely by TeePass (via Stripe) until the tee time has passed. This protects buyers from sellers who might disappear, and ensures sellers get paid once the round is complete.
How do I set up a payout account?
Go to your Dashboard → Payouts and click "Set Up Payout Account." You'll be taken through a quick Stripe onboarding flow (takes about 5 minutes). You'll need a bank account and basic identity verification. This only needs to be done once.
